TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS

Since opening its doors in 1999, TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS has established itself as a leading European address for international productions and worldwide distribution of television event programs. Emmy® and Golden Globe®-nominated producer Rola Bauer’s previous experience as President of Alliance International, heading up worldwide sales and co-productions, and Emmy® Golden Globe®-nominated producer Tim Halkin’s years of marketing for Buena Vista/Disney, combined with both of their experience as television executives at Germany’s ProSieben Network has proven to be the right
formula to attract top companies and projects.

In its continual expansion in production, deficit financing and worldwide distribution, TANDEM secured in its management team as a partner, Golden Globe®-nominated producer Jonas Bauer, a veteran in co-productions who brings his relationships from the LA and European production communities.

As TANDEM celebrates 10 years in business, the company is moving forward with its strategic plans for the next phase of its development and, to that end, has secured as a partner and Chief Operating Officer, Malisa Scott. Ms. Scott was Managing Director of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Germany for the past 15 years and brings to TANDEM a wealth of experience in the industry, along with a mandate to develop new business for the company. The combination of this key management team proves that TANDEM stands for event programs.

TANDEM’s definition of “international production” has always been: English language productions with international themes, prime time suitability and production value, which transcend borders and are as commercially viable in Japan or Italy as they are in North America.

By creating together TANDEM strives to redefine international productions. Financing sources for high quality productions are becoming more difficult to come by, making it a necessity for event programs to be funded with two or more partners. TANDEM’s years of experience in the international production arena, and its strong standing in the biggest TV market outside of the US, enable it to match the right partners. International productions can be creatively and economically profitable for all partners.

TANDEM’s track record includes having repped LionsGate in television sales, deficit financing, coproducing and distributing such highlight projects as Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and John Calley’s event six-hour mini in association with Sony Pictures Television, The Company for Turner Network, Larry Sanitsky’s four-hour miniseries, Robert Ludlum’s The Hades Factor for CBS and Mandalay Television/Stephanie Germain’s collection of event movies based on the books written by publishing phenomenon Nora Roberts. In addition, TANDEM’s original programming includes the four-hour mini, Ring of the Nibelungs
(aka Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King).

Two of TANDEM’s recent productions are Lost City Raiders, a two-hour event movie starring James Brolin, Ian Somerhalder, Ben Cross and Jamie Thomas King, and Impact, it’s four-hour miniseries starring David JamesElliott, Natasha Henstridge, Steven Culp and James Cromwell.

In 2009, TANDEM launched its new genre label: ACTION PACK(ED), guaranteeing Event programming full of action, adventure and fantasy. The first titles announced for the new label are TV movies The Lost Future and Treasure Guards, both set for production in 2010.

In April 2008, TANDEM successfully optioned the rights to The Pillars of the Earth from world-renowned author Ken Follett. Twenty years after its first publication and considered by most to be Follett’s masterpiece, The Pillars of the Earth went into production in June 2009 as a groundbreaking event series. The eight-hour series will be ready for delivery worldwide in the 2nd quarter of 2010 and is produced by TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS, Muse Entertainment, in association with Ridley Scott and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Films.

TANDEM continues to grow its event programming with wide audience appeal. It’s all about Creating Together.

Located in the heart of Munich, one of the largest entertainment markets outside of North America, TANDEM comprises of a thoroughly international team with extensive industry knowledge, covering the areas of development, production, sales and marketing.
